An 18th century Chinese export famille rose cabinet plate circa 1750.

Famille rose is a distinctive type of Chinese porcelain decoration that became prominent during the Qing dynasty, especially in the 18th century under the Yongzheng and Qianlong emperors.

The term means "pink family" in French, referring to the dominant use of pink and rose-colored enamels. Famille rose designs are celebrated for their soft, opaque colours and intricate, delicate patterns often featuring flowers, birds, figures, and auspicious symbols. These enamels, made from lead arsenate, allowed artists to achieve subtle shading and greater detail than earlier palettes.

Famille rose wares were highly prized both in China and abroad, influencing European porcelain production.
