Don Jones, Winchcombe. A set of six studio pottery celadon glazed plates depicting birds, circa 1960. Signed.
Don Jones (1936-2019) emerged from Winchcombe, England, where he began working at the famed Winchcombe Pottery at just 12 years old and formally apprenticed in 1950 under Ray Finch.
He remained a vital member of the pottery team for over two decades, helping the studio endure technical challenges like clay sulphate issues in the 1950s. Known locally for his warmth, he often strolled Winchcombe with his dog and delighted in sharing tales of his craft and collection with visitors.
