Soufflenheim pottery is one of the great ceramic traditions of Alsace, originating in the village of Soufflenheim in north-eastern France. Potters have worked the region's rich clay deposits since at least the 12th century, producing practical earthenware for cooking, baking, and everyday use.
The village became renowned for its glazed terracotta dishes, including the iconic 'baeckeoffe' terrine and 'kougelhopf' mould, both essential to Alsatian cuisine. Traditional decoration features hand-painted floral motifs, storks, and daisy patterns in warm shades of brown, green, blue, and cream.
Still largely handmade today, Soufflenheim pottery remains a celebrated symbol of Alsatian craftsmanship and heritage.
