A fine and rare 17th century tortoiseshell veneered table cabinet with hinged top revealing a mirror and parquetry interior over a drop front opening to reveal a bank of drawers on bracket feet with white metal handles, circa 1680.
By repute from the library of the Louvre Palace when burnt by the Communards in 1871. Purchased from damaged items sold the following year by the Barclay family Paris. Then by descent to Lady Cyrille Rugman, née Barclay.
