A Regency bronze bust of Lord Byron on an ormolu and marble column, circa 1810.

Lord Byron was one of the most famous poets of the Romantic era. Born in 1788 in London, he became known for his passionate poetry, rebellious personality, and dramatic life.

Byron's works often explored themes of love, freedom, nature, and individual emotion. His long narrative poem *Don Juan* is considered one of his greatest achievements, blending satire with adventure. He was also a political activist and supported Greek independence from the Greek War of Independence.

Byron died in 1824 in Greece, becoming a national hero there.
