GECoRAY Silvered Pendant Lamp, 1930s
GECoRAY Silvered Pendant Lamp, 1930s
7349
A striking 1930s GECoRAY silvered shop-display lamp, reimagined as a characterful pendant light while retaining the distinctive industrial elegance of its original design. Created for commercial display, its generous shade and reflective interior were intended to cast a bright, focused light onto merchandise; today, the same qualities make it an atmospheric and highly practical statement piece for the home or interior setting.
The exterior retains its silvery finish, beautifully complemented by the original mercury-glass interior. This softly mottled reflective surface gives the lamp a remarkable depth and luminosity, producing a warm, diffuse glow when illuminated while preserving the crisp, functional character of an early 20th-century shop fitting. The original gallery further enhances its authenticity and period presence.
Professionally rewired for modern use, the lamp is fitted with a nickel lampholder and suspended from white twisted fabric flex, a considered combination that respects the piece's industrial heritage while giving it a clean and elegant finish. It is ready to install and use as a pendant lamp.
A wonderfully versatile piece, ideal above a kitchen island, dining table, desk, hallway, or in a retail, studio, or loft-style interior. Its combination of original industrial materials, softly reflective mercury glass, and carefully updated wiring makes it both a practical source of light and a sculptural decorative object.
