Decorative brass warming pan with peacock decoration to the top of the pan. Circa 1900.
In the days before central heating rooms were cold, and beds for some reason were even colder. These brass pans would be filled with hot coals and slid into the bed to make it nice and cosy. It makes you think how many beds must have caught fire and become just a little too hot.
