A magnificent large Florentine Baroque cushion, made from an exceptionally rich crimson silk panel dating to circa 1680 and later backed in a striking black-and-white striped fabric. Sumptuously coloured and full of texture, it is a dramatic and highly decorative example of the bold luxury associated with late 17th-century Italian furnishing textiles.
The antique silk has a deep, blood-red tone, its warm, saturated colour bringing extraordinary depth and presence to the cushion. Its age, weave, and soft patina give the textile a character that cannot be replicated by modern fabric, while the generous scale allows the design to make a powerful statement within an interior.
